Job description: Job Summary

This role is a leadership position with “Model Risk Policy & Governance” (“MRPG”) team which is part of the “Model Risk Management” (“MRM”) function. MRM is the Group’s 2 Line of Defence for model risk, as such is the model risk framework owner. MRPG includes ownership of the Group model risk inventory / system that enable the implementation, monitoring, governance and reporting of the Model Risk Framework across the Group. The Manager of Model Risk Systems is accountable for the Group model risk inventory / systems owned by MRPG. This includes design, development oversight, testing, release, operation, user access, support, training and ongoing enhancements of the Group model risk inventory / systems. This role, along with MRPG, effectively enables the model risk community (1, 2 and 3rd Line of Defence) with the use of the model risk systems to manage their model portfolios and alignment to Model Risk Policy and Standards. The role holder is required to interact with, and influence, a vast range of stakeholders across the model risk community, in order to provide meaningful, understandable and user-friendly model risk system functionality which enables effective model risk management across SCB.The role holder will gain broad exposure across the Group through the model risk community, including exposure to senior management. They will be accountable for all aspects of model risk systems including, adherence to multiple key regulatory model risk standards.Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure model risk systems alignment to the Group Model Risk Policy and Standards to support the SCB strategy of customer focus, risk aware.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and enhance the Group’s model risk systems to align with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner across the model risk community to develop next generation strategic model risk systems.
  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the wider risk and regulatory environment in which SCB Group operates, specifically in relation to key regulators, including PRA, BaFin, HKMA, MAS, regulatory appointed independent consultants, external and internal audit.
  • Deliver, maintain and operate model risk systems and related processes
  • Enable model risk systems management via socialisation, communication and training across the model risk community, key risk stakeholders and senior management of all businesses and countries.
  • Engage with relevant business stakeholders to support embedding model risk systems into respective First-Line and Second-Line activities and ensure compliance to the Group Model Risk Policy and Standards.
  • Engage with and monitor technology teams and deliverables with a model risk delivery focus
  • Maintain, align, enhance and oversee implementation of model risk systems to cover scope of Group Model Risk Policy and Standards.
  • Lead the development, roll-out and uptake of the global strategic model risk management system.
  • Drive continuous model risk system adoption via socialisation, communication and training across the model risk community.
  • Conduct regular reviews of model risk system processes, ensuring they are efficient, effective and relevant.
  • Innovate and maintain frameworks to ensure model risk systems processes are efficient, appropriate and compliant with all internal and external regulations.
