Senior Business Analyst, Finance Transformation and Integration –
Job Description
This role is a key contributor in the Corporate Finance team responsible for supporting birlasoft and internal financial reporting functions, with a focus on internal Business Group (“BG”) and Business Unit (“BU”) reporting. The successful candidate will work on a growing finance & technology hybrid team, which drives a newly implemented financial reporting platform to centralize and integrate the data collection and reporting functions using technology-based tools (SAP, Longview, Workiva etc.) and automated workflow capabilities. The candidate will contribute to the Sun Life’s BG/BU financial close process and support data integration and process enhancements across multiple finance systems.

What will you do?
- Participate and implement in a permanent project to transform select BG & BU internal quarter-end reporting processes by integrating the principle of “collect once, use many times” to minimize duplication and satisfy a wide range of users across reporting and analysis functions.
- Be part of a project team and ensure timely delivery on project milestones within a very tight development timeline during onboarding of new reporting areas and enhancement initiatives.
- Liaison between business and IT teams, working with IT operation and project teams as needed to implement and maintain the supported financial systems.
- Partner with technical, accounting and business teams on maintaining/enhancing existing deliverables and building/automating new deliverables and controls using multiple reporting tools, techniques, and sources of data.
- Participate in business as usual (BAU) activities around application maintenance, documentation, and support to keep the lights on while the project is in flight.
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-team stakeholders to drive operational efficiencies, building upon a culture of continuous improvement.
- Serve as a key resource to facilitate knowledge sharing and deliver required education for end users, ensuring roles and responsibilities are well-understood and users are equipped to execute required processes/workflows independently.
- Maintain and refine Business Process documentation and training materials for Longview and Workiva systems.
Primary Daily Functions
- Support day to day operations of the Longview and Workiva Platforms
- Document existing and new business processes.
- Design and develop reporting templates and data integrations.
- Triage and prioritize user requests and work with IT counterparts to coordinate delivery.
- Project development work in Workiva’s Data management suit.
- Provide hands on training on Longview and Workiva as required.
- Support the Finance Transformation and Integration Mangers and Director as needed.
Core Competencies
- Familiarity with computer programming languages such as VBA and/or SQL
- Familiarity with SharePoint Online site design, support and maintenance
- Advanced skill with Microsoft Office 365
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for technical and non-technical audiences including a passion for documentation
- Able to work both independently and within a global multi-site team
- Proactive and self-directed with excellent organizing, planning and time management skills and able to progress on multiple assignments at once
- Able to effectively operate at both a big picture high level, as well as deep in the details
- Able to learn quickly and ramp up on new technologies, systems and business concepts

What do you need to succeed?
- University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline, such as Finance, Mathematics, or Information Technology
- Experienced and passionate about helping teams achieve process improvements.
- Experience working within both Business and IT environments.

Additional Requirements
- Periodic weekend / after-hours work may be required to support project implementations and system upgrades.
