Project Manager – Finance Strategy & Business Operations
Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for the governance and project management initiatives within the Finance department. The Project Manager role is a core member of the Finance Strategy & Business Operations team, and will partner with various teams within the Finance department to support, and proactively work with them, to facilitate the work occurring between them and the business units and centralized functions. They will help the teams to scope and plan the projects by helping to document the project goal, KPIs, roadmap and main deliverables.
The Project Manager will ensure that the projects they are running are managed in a consistent manner, whilst working with the business units & central functions within Booking.com to build engagement and where needed governance over decisions needed for work to be signed off. In some cases, the role requires dealing with external vendors and managing external stakeholders.
The Project Manager will also help the different teams to mitigate the project risks and dependencies to make sure there is progress towards the project’s milestones. First and foremost, the Project Manager will ensure the team’s roadmaps/plans focus on agreed business priorities, dependencies and strategies – designed based on data and business needs, and deliver against the shared objectives & goals
Key Responsibilities
Craft Methodology and Standards:
- Apply structured methodology to and lead project/change management activities.
E2E Project Management
- Lead independently End-to-end (E2E) low/medium [Project/Workstream] and/or support high complexity [Project] from scoping to execution, analysis, recommendation and implementation.
Project Initiation and Planning:
- With limited supervision, drives the program scoping and planning working with different teams and creating associated documentation.
- Brings clarity to sponsor, teams and stakeholders by defining and documenting program objectives, requirements and success criteria, KPIs, roadmap/E2E planning, risk and dependencies, cost estimates and in general program deliverables.
Project Implementation and Completion
- Drive project plan execution, ensuring project objectives are met on agreed timelines.
- Track and report progress;
- Ensure a project closing and correct handover to Business as usual.
Project Governance
- With limited supervision design and implement project governance and delivery structure to ensure efficient delivery, communication and decision making
- Implement and adhere to the existing project management frameworks & templates and follow up if needed with any improvement feedback.
Delivery/Impact
- Drive the progress and successful delivery or initiatives that bring value to the business.
- They are the driving force that collaborate and manage multi-disciplinary teams to reach project goals and objectives on agreed timelines and budget (when applicable)
Stakeholder Management
- Primary point of contact for Project(s) related queries. Ability to work and productively interact with different stakeholders up to Director level.
Success Metrics
- Define and measure the success metrics of the Project(s) in scope.
Facilitator
- Lead independently workshops to support the delivery of the Project(s).
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor Degree
- 2-4 years experience
- PMP or Agile Project Management or equivalent certification is preferred.
- With supervision, ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision making.
- Familiar with change management approaches; good understanding of the change curve and process
- Effectively communicate in 1:1 and small groups; Strong influencer in 1:1
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships (both within a team and with wider stakeholders. Ability to work effectively and influence up to Senior Managers
- Highly organized and structured and make sure all processes run smoothly and in a reliable manner.
- Be able to lead, motivate, and manage stakeholders and project teams to achieve organizational goals. They also should be able to influence and steer senior management and groups.
- Challenge assumptions and ability to adapt or generate imaginative and innovative ideas
- Flexibility and the ability to function well within ambiguity and in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to solve complex problems with supervision. They are able to break up problems into actionable and easy to understand solutions.
- Hands on and drives solutions to problems in partnership with the involved parties.
- Project Managers make sure the project’s outcomes are in line with customer needs and/or expectations
