Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. is hiring Associate Regional Counsel – East

Job Purpose

Associate Regional Counsel East: To support the regional RC in due diligence, execution and registration of leases, manage regional legal database (digitisation of leases, uploading on the portal, etc.). With the aim to establish a system for multiple level scrutiny, ARC is bestowed upon with the following tasks, including but not limited to :-

To mentor JRC and review the works of JRCs;

To hold discussions with external counsels pertaining to risks involved in a property;

To vet all the documentation proposed to be filed before the concerned authority and courts;

To hold discussions and form strategies with external counsels pertaining to ongoing and new litigation;

To conduct risk rating of a property post review of due diligence report;

To prepare risk/deviation note; and

To prepare dashboard and trackers.

Job Context

The role extends to entire region East for ABFRL business including all the subsidiary businesses of ABFRL.

Following are the operational challenges.

  • Highlight the risk arising out of title due diligence and post discussions with RC prepare risk note along with mitigation plan.
  • Ensure registration of all the Leases in the region.
  • Closing issues arise across region in respect of value violations and landlord complaints.
  • Providing time bound legal support in filing police complaints, closure of cases, etc.,
  • Updating and managing regional litigations on daily basis.
  • Working with cross functions to provide effective services to ICs & LL
  • To update the litigations and leasing data/files.

Advisory service to cross functional teams

RBD

  • Prepare first cut draft and share with LL
  • Review of legal risks arising out of Due diligence of properties conducted by external lawyers and prepare risk/deviation note accordingly
  • Assist RC in negotiation of leases, CAM documents, Renewal of lease, etc
  • Assist RC in provide SOPs for driving higher % of Registration of leases or any leasing requirement
  • Assist RC in resolving issues with municipal and statutory authorities arising in retail stores
  • Conducting discussions and form strategies with RC pertaining to ongoing and new litigations.
  • Review all the documentation proposed to be filed before the courts / concerned authority

F & Com

  • Helping in amending any clause/s of the franchisee, landlords, etc., in said region
  • Post discussions with RC initiate or defend legal action.
  • Co-ordinating with accounts and external advocates to resolve landlords’ disputes.
  • Providing data to finance team
  • Providing data for publishing dashboards.
  • Monitoring all the updates made by JRC in the portals.

Retail HR

  • Understanding and briefing all the facts to RC regarding value violation and other disputes.
  • Facilitating RC in filing of police complaints.

Services to regional internal customers

  • Providing regional data for publishing monthly Leasing dash board.
  • Maintenance of regional data base of leases.

Processes

  • Assist RC in SOPs for streamlining the leasing and retail compliance processes in the region.
