Head of Sub-Domain P&P Solutions – India

(Open PAN India: Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore & Mumbai)

DHL is expanding it software engineering capabilities towards India also for German based solutions for Post and Parcel (P&P Solutions in short). The new role will be responsible for delivering off-shore, cost efficient, innovative application development solutions and other services, e.g. testing, to our Business Partners in collaboration with international and German focused teams..

In a first step the main task will be to set-up and establish a new team in DHL focusing on P&P Solutions.

Grow together

Shaping Direction:

  • Establish a development team which is expected to grow to about 60-70 experts within the next 2-3 years
  • Research trends and developments within the scope of the work to keep current and abreast of technology and business advances in order to ensure to fulfill the demands in off-shore and collaboration
  • Together with other colleagues identify projects and opportunities to be supported within IT Services DHL
  • Direct the allocation of resource (both internal and external) to the optimum advantage of DHL to both protect the organizations IP and to leverage economies of scale

In conjunction with the management team define and execute appropriate sourcing decisions for the department

Operational Excellence:

  • Being accountable for Project Delivery on time, on cost and to appropriate quality standards
  • Working together with DHL colleagues, especially of P&P Solutions, in different locations to deliver proposals on-time and quality to the Business Partner
  • Ensuring appropriate management of the portfolio of projects / support services within the department
  • Identifying and managing the delivery of new capabilities (techniques and tools) to meet and exceed Business Partners expectations (cost, time and quality)
  • Driving operational cost efficiency through optimization of the delivery process
  • Ensure by working closely with Production Services that delivered projects operate in a stable and cost effective environment

Business Acumen:

  • Being responsible for management of the department P&L achieving key revenue and market share targets
  • Meeting or beating the budget in each cost category
  • Optimizing the delivery cost through execution and continuous review of the agreed Sourcing Strategy
  • Identifying and delivering opportunities to improve the delivery of solutions through First Choice initiatives

Building and Leading Teams:

  • Creating an engaged workforce of 60-70 experts within the next 2-3 years by ensuring and appropriate mix of challenging and rewarding opportunities along with optimal use of the available resources
  • Ensuring that the team will build-up business intimacy and expertise of business, strategy, processes, application landscape of the P&P division
  • Monitoring and directing the ongoing development of the professional team under their management.
  • Ensuring that all issues related to their staff’s wellbeing are monitored and resolved appropriately and in a timely fashion, including working environment, travel related and workload
  • Ensuring strong cooperation with other Departments both on the sharing of resources within P&P Solutions and between Domains
  • Establishing and demonstrating a working culture within the Department that ensures maximum co-operation between ITS departments (One Team)

Skills / Qualifications

  • Strongly demonstrated leadership in service, customer orientation, project management and communication skills
  • Capability to manage and/or work within global multi-site organizations
  • Strong financial and commercial business acumen
  • Ability to direct and influence other senior managers outside direct line management structure.
  • Capability to lead, motivate, inspire and encourage highly skilled people
  • Develop career plans for team
  • Communication and presentation capability: Business Partner facing and DHL internal major influencer in technical buying scenarios
  • Solid technical understanding of complex system integration and networking architectures
  • Innovative approach to usage of architecture and technology
  • Skilled in budgeting and managing revenue
  • Results oriented and driven by goal achievement with a strong focus on high quality service performance across different location and culture
  • Professional in Information Technology, with more than 5 years management experience in a multinational company
  • Experienced in working in multi-cultural environment, managing large project teams in direct and widely dispersed geographical locations
  • Graduate in a technical and business related discipline – MBA or equivalent
