Your role:
Your challenge
Design for eXcellence (DfX) program plays a key role in Philips to improve total end-to-end cost and value. We cooperate globally across Philips business functions to make better products at lower cost.

Your Responsibilities
- Initiate improvement and optimization activities in close cooperation with your partners in innovation, procurement, and operations through applying procurement and value engineering tools and levers.
- Improve the competitiveness and profitability of products and services through product teardown and Benchmarking, Should Cost analysis, and design to value.
- Able to lead complex Cost Engineering and product introduction Projects.
- Drives early supplier involvement and identifies cost drivers to influence design decision making and achieve target costing.
- Support the engineering and commodity teams to drive forward supplier productivity.
- Establish cost and value engineering as a key process in Philips to support businesses and collaborate across functions to realize improvement roadmaps.
- Drive towards a larger Community of Practice on Cost Engineering topics and processes in Philips.
- Identify best practices, promote active knowledge sharing in the network of value engineers, and through this improve our current working processes, methods, tools and standards.
- Responsible for cost and value engineering projects, training, and coaching.

The global Cost Master team is part of Design for eXcellence (DfX) and consists of 12 passionate Cost Engineers located in the United States, Netherlands, India and China.
We are looking for
- BS/MS degree in a technical subject (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or similar)
- 8+ years of working experience in a technology company (e.g. Consumer Electronics, Lighting, Healthcare, Automotive) in product innovation, procurement, production/manufacturing, product management or similar function
- Experience in doing should costing, Cost estimation and vendor negotiation in various commodities such as Casting, Machining, Electronics and Non-Metallics commodities.
- A sound and practical capability to develop optimized systems (cost and value) and convince cross functional partners of the solution.
- Experience to facilitate better decision making in product creation and procurement.
- Project management experience gained e.g. in lean manufacturing, six sigma programs, supply chain consulting.
- Experience in leading an expert network in specific technical knowledge areas
- Strong teaming skills to drive change and challenge project teams
- Strong English communication skills, ability to convince and to pitch/present your solution to project teams and management
- Travelling approx. 10%
