Key Responsibilities

The DSP Firmware Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing real-time audio processing solutions. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing and optimizing firmware for DSP processors with a focus on high performance, low latency, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Collaborating with hardware teams to integrate DSP firmware with mixed-signal hardware (ADC, DAC, Class D, and headphone amplifiers).
  • Implementing efficient real-time audio algorithms on resource-constrained DSPs, MCUs, and neural network engines.
  • Participating in code reviews and creating detailed documentation, including block diagrams, state diagrams, and coding specifications.
  • Testing and validating firmware through unit tests, simulations, and real hardware environments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or ECE with a focus on signal processing.
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of signal processing, DSP fundamentals, and deep learning architectures.
  • Experience with DSP firmware development, including DSP processors like Qualcomm Kalimba, TI C55x, and Analog Devices SigmaDSP.
  • Proficiency in Embedded C and MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in signal processing techniques such as digital filter design (IIR, FIR), adaptive filtering, noise, and echo cancellation.
  • Expertise in adaptive filters, sub-band processing, multi-rate DSP, and frequency domain processing.
  • Familiarity with machine learning tools like PyTorch and training/testing methodologies.
  • Experience with assembly language programming and system profiling tools.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with code version control practices and audio hardware prototyping systems.
