Texas Instruments (TI) is looking for a highly motivated Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) Practitioner to join our global team.
This position requires the understanding of various IT systems to delve deeply into technical details and take a holistic approach to troubleshooting critical issues. As a technology expert with strong knowledge and understanding of various IT infrastructure and application components, SRE Practitioner is responsible for leading our organization through private cloud adoption and establish best practices to ensure services are working as expected. SRE Practitioner provides technical leadership and influences decisions about the software engineering process while providing leadership in operational processes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Applying software engineering and DevOps expertise to operational issues and successfully transitioning to SRE practices.
· Management and maintenance of our private cloud infrastructure
· Engage, influence, and evangelize SRE practices with development, operational and product groups to align on technology service/solution delivery.
· Define actionable service-level objectives to improve reliability, quality, and availability of our suite of solutions
· Learn how various services work, then translate that understanding into runbooks that the operations team will use. As new features and functionality are added, update and evolve the runbooks as needed.
· Identify recurring system/application issues and work with Cloud Operations team, vendors and other stakeholders in investigating and resolving cause.
· Build dashboards and processes to manage platform infrastructure and applications
· Create plans to recruit and retain top talent to your team
· Drive accountability with well-defined processes, metrics, and goals for process quality. This includes leading effective post incident reviews and ensuring actions are followed-up and closed.
Minimum Requirements:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent degree
· 8+ years of relevant work experience
Key skills:
· Experience in virtualization technologies – VMWare VCF, VRA, VROps, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc.
· Experience in private and public cloud operations
· Prior experience in having participated in SRE transformation.
· Familiar with DevOps tools – BitBucket, Github, Jenkins, Git, Terraform
· Familiar with database technologies – Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL
· Server administration experience (Windows, Unix, Linux)
· Knowledge and understanding of application containers and container orchestration systems.
Storage concepts and basic networking
· Experience in the area of monitoring and observability
· Experience scripting and automation – Perl / Python preferred
· Project and process management
· Strong stakeholder management skills with emphasis on strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Self-starter with strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.

He/She must also have strong planning, organizational, communication skills, and be a key driver to help the team understand the big picture perspective.
